WASTE OF EFFORT

Rotarians And Barrows

( N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 18.

It was not really making the best use of Rotarians to have them trundle barrowg of cement on Saturday mornings: it was more in the line of younger members, said Dr. E. W. Hutcheson, addressing the district Rotary conference at Auckland on Saturday. "To see middle-aged—and sometimes elderly—business and professional men struggling to do a job which any tradesman could do twice as well in half the time, is a prime example of misdirected effort,” he said. "From a practical point of view it is a colossal waste of experience and intelligence. From a club point of view it is nearly always the same willing few who undertake the tasks, and by persisting on this line you will ultimately blunt the enthusiasm of your best Rotarians,” he said.
