IRON ORE IN AUSTRALIA
U.S. Steel Man’s Interest
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) PERTH. March 12
The iron ore deposit at Pilbara, 1100 miles north of Perth, is one of the massive ore bodies of the world, according to an American steel executive.
The executive, Mr T. M. Price, vice-president of the Kaiser Steel Corporation and chief of its raw materials division, added: "We would be interested in working with other people in its development.” Mr Price was speaking to reporters today before he left Perth to return to the United States. “There are untold millions of tons of iron ore there." Mr Price said. “I think this is one of the massive ore bodies of the world. It is a tremendous asset to Western Australia and will be for many years—maybe hundreds of years. “This ore body compares favourably with any other in the world except Brazil, which has two extremely big ore bodies.” he said. Mr Price said the deposit would be easy to work, and atomic power might be the most feasible means of developing it?
