FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A complex depression lies over New Zealand. An anti-cyclone lies to the south-west of the country. Forecast:— Canterbury.—Moderate to fresh southerlies; cloudy and rather cold with showers at times. Outlook: showers mainly in the north and about the coast. Marlborough and Nelson.—Southerlies becoming fresh or strong in exposed places about Cook Strait, moderate to fresh easterlies elsewhere; overcast with periods of rain; moderate temperatures. Outlook: showers mainly in Marlborough. West Coast—Light to moderate variable winds, mainly easterlies; some showers in the north, partly cloudy in the south; mild temperatures. Outlook: fine.
