WELLINGTON. March 8, New rates of pay and allowances tor policemen were gazetted tonight They meet the application made by the Police Association for a £3O per annum increase granted to the rest of the Public Service towards the end of last year. The new rates, which are back-dated to October 1, 1961, are: Assistant Commissioners— After one year £2450 On appointment £2300 Chief Superintendents £2225 Superintendents After one year £2075 On appointment £1960 Chief Inspectors— After one year £1855 On appointment £1765
After one year £1665 On appointment £l5BO Senior Sergeants— After three years £1495 Third year £1460 Second year £1420 First year £1390 Sergeants— After three years £1320 Third year £1290 Second year £1260 First year £1230 Constables— After 20 years' service £1155 After 14 years £ll3O After nine years £llO5 After three years £1065 After two years £lO3O After one year £lOO5 First year £975 Under 21 years of age £960 Under 20 years of age £945 Constables’service increases are calculated after they have attained the age of 21
