In a resolution today, the board said that increased production in Central Otago which might eventuate could not yet be assessed sufficiently but the board was impressed with the possibilities of increased production in the South Island. "The position should be reviewed at a time fixed by the board after consultation with interested parties, but not before May. 1964.” the resolution said. The board had considered all the factors on the need for a new freezing works in the South Island, with particular reference to the position of Central Otago. It had considered the report of December 6, 1961, of the independent committee which it set up. and had given full weight to the representations of the Central Otago Freezing Company Ltd (a company formed by farmers in the Central Otago area for the purpose of promoting the establishment of a new freezing works).
