Rainfall Below Average (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 7. Rainfall was well below average in most of New Zealand during February, according to the Meteorological Service. It was less than half normal in the northern half of the South Island, and in parts of Hawke’s Bay Gisborne, the Bay of Plenty and Auckland. Marlborough’s rainfall was barely 25 per cent of normal Temperatures were one to two degrees above avenge in western and northern districts of both Islands. Elsewhere they were neer to or slightly below average Sunshine was above average. except in moot of Canterbury. Otago and Southland, and in parts of the Bay of Plenty.
