Australian Model Seeks Work In City
A young Australian television and photographic fashion model, Miss Judy Luff, of Melbourne, is at present on a short visit to New Zealand with a view to obtaining mannequin work. Last evening, Miss Luff, a tall blonde, aged 22, spoke briefly of her varied experience during the last four years since she first took up free-lance modelling work. Previously a stenographer in a Melbourne office, she has found her new occupation full of interest, although undoubtedly more strenuous. Her work, Involving different types of modelling, from mannequin parades in stores to commercial, photographic and television modelling, has given her a varied experience in the fashion world. Television work however, she has particularly enjoyed. During the last five months
she has taken part in a weekly variety show doing “all sorts of fill-in parts.” Miss Luff is visiting New Zealand primarily to attend the wedding of a friend, formerly Miss Diane Templeton, of Christchurch. She hopes to see the scenic attractions of the South Island before returning home. Christchurch women seemed fashion conscious compared with her own home city, she said. Contrary to expectations, she had found little difference in taste or “up-to-dateness” of women’s dress. “When I left home everyone said I’d probably find fashions about five years behind, but this isn’t so. Except in some little things I’d say you have the same new colour schemes and styles as we do over there. This was really quite a surprise,” Miss Luff said.
