Holders Reach Semi-Finals

AUCKLAND. March 6

Kihikfhi. the holders, defeated Auckland on the second day of the New Zealand Polo Association's Savile Cup championships at Morrinsville today. A. Bennett the Auckland No. 1. fell from his horse during a hectic goalmouth scrimmage in the second chukker and had to leave the field He was replaced by N. Allen. Kihikihi recovered from conceding four goals in the third chukker and won a thrilling match by 7-5. The team meets Taupiri in a semi-final tomorrow.

Morrinsville. the runners-up last year, reached the final by a 5-3 win over Waimai.

Poverty Bay. the junior champions. scored a penalty in the last chukker to draw level at 5-5 with Matangi. and scored the winning goal In extra time. Morrinsville juniors beat Hawke's Bay by 8-7 after conceding four goals in the opening chukker. Results were:—

Savile Cup.—Kihikihi 7. Auckland 5: Morrinsville 5, Waimai

Junior Cup.—Morrinsville 8. Hawke’s Bay 7; Poverty Bay 6. Matangi 5. Stead Cup.—Glen Murray 13. Cambridge (handicap 4) 6.
