Income Tax Due

Today is the last day for paying 1961 terminal tax (paid when provisional tax or PA.YE. tax deductions prove insufficient), the second instalment of 1962 provisional tax and the 1961 tax paid by most companies not required to pay provisional tax.

The District Commissioner of Taxes (Mr D. A. Stevens) said that the 10 per cent, penalty would be added automatically if the taxes were not paid by today, except in the case of those companies which were not on P-A.Y-E. The penalty for these companies was reducible to 5 per cent, if the tax was paid in two months.
