FRENCH PLANE ARRIVES
Demonstrations At Harewood
A Bmall French aeroplane landed at the Christchurch airport early yesterday morning without undue ceremony. but before the morning was over it had won the admiration of the executive and members of the Canterbury Aero Club who watched it being put through its paces. Hie plane, a Morane-Saul-nier Rallye, la on a demonstration tour of New Zealand. It is being flown by Mr L. W. Seabrook, who at each centre gives a brief introdutcory talk on the aircraft's potential. For demonstrations Mr B. N. Gault flies the Rallye. The Canterbury Aero Club’s chief flying instructor (Mr I. H. Gundersom, who was taken for a flight, said that the Rallye completely outperformed similarly engined aircraft. The Rallye, which has a 100 h.p. engine, cruised easily between 105 and 110 miles an hour, which Mr Gunderson described as quite phenomenal. Today the Rallye will be flown to Ashburton, where further demonstrations will be given. Late in the afternoon it will return to Christchurch, and tomorrow it is due to leave for Timaru. At the end of its South Island tour the Rallye will take part in the Royal New Zealand Aero Club's pageant at Invercargill.
