MAGISTRATE’S COURT
SATURDAY (Before Messrs A. S. Louisson and G. A. Brown, Justices of the Peace). REMANDED Noel Patrick Simpson, aged 17, a metal worker, and Trevor Walsh, aged 18, a workman, were remanded in custody to March 9, on charges of entering the Wainoni Butchery, Ltd., 86 Wainoni road, with intent to commit a crime, on Friday night. Simpson was also charged with the theft of a bicycle, valued at £B. Walsh applied for bail but this was opposed by Sergeant V. F. Townshend, who said that other charges were pending against Walsh and if the application was granted he was liable to abscond. Reginald John Hills, aged 31, a workman, was remanded in custody to March 9, On a charge of entering the dwelling of Anne Anderson Sparrow with intent to commit a crime. Thomas Callaghan, aged 40. a workman, was remanded to March 9, on two charges of theft of women's clothing of a total value of £8 2s on Friday night He was granted bail. Peter Raymond Pimm, aged 19. was remanded until toda;- on bail on charges of being found on Friday night on premises at 24 Nayland street without lawful excuse, and of being in possession of illegal lottery tickets. Cecil Sydney Shapley, aged 50, a workman, was remanded in custody until today on a charge of attempting to leave New Zealand on March 1, with intent to disobey a maintenance order.
