Next Saturday's match between Kaituna and United will decide the Banks Peninsula Cricket Sub-association’s competition. After its outright win over Akaroa on Saturday, Kaituna regained the lead in the competition from United, which Is now two points behind in second place. Competition points, with one round to be played, are:— Kaituna 92, United 90, Le Bons 88. Little River 88, Wainul 60. Akaroa 38. Results:— Le Bons 248 for nine declared (C. Mclntosh 64, C. McKay 23, D. Johnston 15, G. Huston 70. L. Inwood 19, R. Small 26; Paul Haglund three for 65, G. Moore three for 53) beat United 205 (I. Craw 67. D. Marshall 22, R. Harris 30, Paul Haglund 15, H. Marshall 18. H. Haglund 22, G. Moore 22; P. Johnston three for 41, C. Grigg two for 67. L. Ford five for 66) on the first innings. Little River 208 for nine declared (L. Morrison 38, T. Hutchison 50, M. Barclay 29. J. Palmer 75; D. McPhail three for 33, P. Fisher two for 55. G. Bisman two for 56) beat Wainui 97 (P. Fisher 43. D. McPhail 17; P. Walker four for 17. J. Palmer five for 14) on the first innings. Akaroa 87 (M. Robinson 39. P. Ferguson 16; N. Allen seven for 47. W. Newton three for 14) and 73 (M. Robinson 33; E. Allen four for 15, N. Allen two for 13. W. Newton two for 21) lost to Kaituna 94 for two declared (D. Turner 58 not out, E. Allen 21) and 76 for three (E Turner 25, M. Punbeir 18 not out, B. Beach 15) outright.
