Trading Profit Higher (N Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, February 21. H. C. Sleigh, Ltd., big petroleum, rubber and shipping group, lifted consolidated trading profit, before tax, by 20 per cent, to £1.263,000 in the half-year to December 31. This was equivalent to an annual earning rate of £2,526,000 before tex, the best in the company’s history. Turnover of the group rose 6 per cent, in the half-year and directors say In today’s interim report that the improvement in trading profits was mainly due to a plant programme of expansion and reorganisation of subsidiary companies. Interim ordinary dividend is held at 6} per cent, and is in line with last year’s full payout of 12J per cent. It will be paid on April 15, books close March 15.

Directors say they are pleased by the result for the July-December half-year and they expect this rate to be maintained during the current six months.
