Men In Orbit
Sir, —At last the American pupils of the Soviet Union in the matter of space flights have succeeded in orbiting the earth. What a performance though! Delay upon delay, which might be understandable, but the manner in which the publicity side was managed must have filled the mind of any but a very stouthearted astronaut with misgiving. However, credit must be given where it is due, and now news will be awaited for 17 orbits of the earth. But, of course, by then the Soviet Union will have most likely gone a stage further in their space programme . Yours, etc., February 21, 1962.
