CITY TOWN PLANNER
Mr J. C. Foster Retiring
Mr J. C. Foster, the Town Planning Officer of the city council, for the last 10 years, will retire at the end of next month.
Mr Foster has completed 42 years’ service with the Public Service and the council. Two years, ago he wished to retire, but postponed his resignation to see through the objections and appeals against the city’s town planning schemes.
Before joining the coun cil, Mr Foster worked in the Lands and Survey Department, which he joined in 1920, and in which he had experience of town planning. For about three years he worked
with Miss N. Northcroft, who was the city town planning officer and who is now the Regional Planner, and was appointed to his present position when Miss Northcroft joined the Christchurch Regional Planning Authority. Mr Foster had the responsibility for the preparation of the first part (zoning) of the city council’s district planning scheme.
