FAMILY SEES “THING”

Portholes And Fins (N.Z. Press Association) TAURANGA, February 21. A Mount Maunganui school boy, John Rix, has made drawings of a strange object which he. his mother, and other members of the family saw in the sky over Tauranga yesterday afternoon. The boy’s father, Mr S. Rix, said this morning: ‘‘John did two drawings, the first last night. This morning I got him to do anothei—without •etting him see the first. “They are identical and I am convinced that he has drawn what he saw.”

The descriptions members of the family gave him and the drawings prepared by his son indicated a cylindrical object with a silver-white hull and a pointed black nose with a rod protruding. There were rods protruding from each side at the base of the object, and it appeared to have fins and what looked like a row of portholes, Mr Hix added.
