Paintings Given For Raffle
Five paintings by New Zealand artists are the prizes in a lottery sponsored by the committee of the Maritime Exhibition organSed to raise funds for the Canterbury Merchant Navy Centre.
The exhibition of maritime models, charts, pictures and the relics of ships, with working exhibits of modem eauipment for the sea. will be open in Christchurch for seven days from next Wednesday. Rum punch and sea foods will be served at a preview on Tuesday evening, when the High Commissioner for the United Kingdom in New Zealand. Sir Francis Cummings-Bruce will open the exhibition at the Durham St-net Art Gallery Miss Olivier SpencerB wer nas given a Nelson water-colour and Mr A. B-->oke has given a harbour in oils to the committee Three other watercolours are by Mrs Ester Hope (of Glendhu Bay Lake Wanaka). by Mr C Kelly and Mr B Fletcher (of tramps in the Pool o* London*
Beath and Co., are displaying the paintings in a window until they appear at the exhibition. The lottery winners will be given their own choice of picture.
