1500 Men To Be Dismissed (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) SYDNEY, Feb. 15. Standard Telephones and Cables Pty., Ltd., would shul down the consumer products division at Liverpool, Sydney, within the next fortnight and dismiss about 1506 men, an Electrical Trade: Union official said last night He said the company had been reported to be losin# heavily in this departmen' and would now concentrate on its telephone and telephone equipment manufacturing.

Britain’s Trade Gap Wider
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, Feb. 14. Britain's trade gap in January was £78.6 million—almost three times greater than the previous month, the Board of Trade announced today. The figure for December was £27.1 million and in January last year £62 million, the board said. Last month, Britain’s exports were £311.9 million and imports £402.7 million. Re-exports amounted to £12.2 million.
