Rugby MR HOGG TO RESIGN

Mr C. S. Hogg is to resign as chairman of the New Zealand Rugby Union and as a member of the executive. He has advised the executive of his decision and will announce it to the council at its meeting in Wellington tomorrow. Mr Hogg has been chairman of the union since 1953. after bing elected to the executive in 1951. His decision to sever his connexion with the administrative side of the snort has no one specific cause. He said: “When I became chairman I said it would be for a limited period only Already that period has extended to twice as long as I had intended." Badly Injured As a student at Whangarei High School he was badly injured in a Rugbv match and never played again. During his nine years of office there have been 14 tours and he was responsible for negotiating the shorttour bv England. Also, he persuaded the International Rugbv Board to hold its first meeting outside the United Kingdom, in New Zealand in 1959 Aged 50. Mr Hogg is the principal of a Wellington accountancy firm.
