RUSSIA AND U.S. RELATIONS

Violinist Sees An Improvement ( N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Feb. 13. Yehudi Menuhin, the violinist. who arrived at Wellington last night on his fourth visit to the country, said today he believed Russia was beginning to arrive at some understanding with America. He gave this as his reason for a change of mind about performing in Russia.

“I’ve been putting off going to Russia," he said. "I haven’t been there since 1944. But later this year I’m going there to give 10 Concerts in the main cities. In the next 10 years I’m sure Russia and America will get to understand each other,” said Mr Menuhin. "Russia is emerging from its crude stage. Its people are becoming more educated and enlightened. Some of my dearest colleagues now are Russian musicians.”
