Anniversary Celebrated

The Lyttelton Country Women’s Institute celebrated its fifth anniversary recently. Mr R. F. Barrett presided and welcomed Mrs L. M. Kellaway, the Canterbury Federation president, Mrs C. D. Newton, a Dominion councillor, the federation executive, friends and members.

A ballet dance was given by Misses Jill Beaton and Kay O’Donnely, and Highland dancing by Miss Marjorie Lindsay. Mrs P. Page gave pianoforte solos. The drama circle performed sketches, and the committee a programme of "Songs of Home.”

Trophies for the year were presented by Mrs Kellaway, as follows:—Ruby Green Rose Bowl for most points in all competitions. Mesdames F. Jones and R. Loader; Ings Memorial Vase. Mrs R. Illingworth: cooking section. Mrs Jones: sewing section, Mesdames Loader and E. Lloyd; floral section, Mesdames Illingworth and R K. Duckworth.

The anniversary cake ceremony was performed by Mesdames Newton, N. Cand, and F. S. Warner. Two new members were welcomed.
