IN.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) NEW YORK, Feb. 12 Four New Zealanders, including one Canterbury man, are among 25 residents of nine Commonwealth countries who received travel grants announced today by the Carnegie Corporation of New York. Mr L D. Blair, reader In agricultural Microbiology - at Canterbury Agricultural College. will study teaching and research In soil microbiology id the United States and Canada, from October to December 1962

Dr. Blajt’s grant will enable him to attend an international congress on microbiology. which will be held at Montreal during his stay He will be a section chairman of the congress. Although he plans to spend most of his time’ tn Canada, the grant will also permit him to make visits to the United States Mr S E Mead, of Hamilton Boys’ High School, and Mr Donald Nelson, Inspector of Post-primary Schools, will participate in the creation of physics course materials at Educational Services, Inc.. Watertown. Massachusetts. Dr. J. C. Beaglehole, senior research fellow, Victoria University of Wellington, will visit historical sites in Hawaii and British Columbia, and libraries in the United States specialising in Pacific history.
