Big N.Z. Purchases At Perth Bull Sale

Purchase of 16 bulls for New Zealand for more than 22,000 guineas at the Aberdeen Angus sales at Perth. Scotland, is reported by Dalgety and New Zealand Loan, Ltd. The purchases were made by Mr J. V. Evans, stud stock representative of the firm, who flew to Britain in mid-January and, who visited most of the leading studs before the sales, inspecting bulls that would be offered

Acting for a number of breeders who were unable to attend the sales in person and who commissioned him to make selections on their behalf. Mr Evans paid prices ranging from 400 to 6500gns Mr Evans purchased Edwin of Hungerford and Eritovan of Broadleys for Mr John MacFarlane, of Hastings. According to cable reports of the sale the prices for these two bulls, which gained third places in classes at the show held in conjunction with the sale, were 6500 and 3800 guineas respectively. Newhouse Pre-Eminent, which was first in its class, was also purchased for Mr L. Baigent (Nelson) for 3300 guineas. Purchases made on behalf of other breeders by Mr Evans were as follows, with prices shown being obtained from British press reports of th J. S purdie (Te Kuiti): President of Tofts at 520 guineas Hickman Bros. (Blenheim): Cobairdy Evictor, at 1500 guineas. W. R Hunt (Waverley)Islabank Joy Eric, at 480 guineas. J. L. Duncan (Hastings): Kilmundie Peyote, at 400 guineas J. S. Callesen (Longburn): Wizard of Balhary. A. McGaffin (ElsthorpeV Erotic of Fordhouse, at 1800 guineas and Janetic Eric, of Tangier. H. Bayly (Wairoa): Gladhand of Kinermony and Equand of Kinermony. Nairn Bros. (Waipawa): Ellumard of Addington and Stype Dollar. W. T. Powdrell and Company (Wairoa): Eulihunter of Kilham. J. E. D. Roberts (Middle-

march): Edwin Era of Balmyle.

The firm says it is hoped that early shipment of the bulls can be made. The shipment will be the biggest number of cattle from the sale to be imported into New Zealand in any season. Press reports of the sale in Scotland also list the sale of Electronic of Lindertis to Mr Alan Elliott, of Marlborough, at 1500 guineas The feature of the sales this year was the new record price of 33.000 guineas paid by an Argentine partnership for the reserve junior champion, Jumbos Eric of Candacraig, offered on account of Mrs A. F. Wallace. The senior and over all champion, Erasmus of Haymount, was sold for 14,500 guineas, the reserve senior champion, Newhouse Jewdo Eric, for 14,000 guineas and the junior and reserve champion, Burger of Classlochie, also made 14,000 guineas.
