ELLIOTT RUNS SLOW 880

Mile Forgone By Request (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. February 13 H. Elliott, the Australian Olympic 1500 metres champion, won the half-mile and the three miles for Jesus College in the University Athletics meeting at Cambridge yesterday. Running in wind and rain, Elliott won the 880 yards in the slow time of 2min B.2sec. The three miles he won by 10 yards in 15min 23sec. He said afterwards that he had run the two distances, and not the mile, at the request of his college secretary. Elliott and the English distance runner B. Tulloh will take part in British county cross-country championships on Saturday. Elliott has been entered as an individual by Cambridge University Hare and Hounds Club in the Eastern counties championships at Ampthill Park, Bedfordshire. Tulloh, just back from his New Zealand tour, is a starter in the Southern counties championships at Reading, Berkshire.
