METRIC SYSTEM ADVOCATED

Change With C.K. Proposed

( N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 2.

Decimal coinage should be introduced to New Zealand no later than when it comes into use in Australia or Britain the Wellington Chamber of Commerce said in a statement today. The chamber also said the metric system of weights and measures should be introduced as soon as practicable after the change to decimal currency.

There were special advantages in timing the change in the system with Australia especially, according to the statement, but it would be an unnecessary burden on the public to add the complications of a change to metric weights and measures concurrent with the change to decimal coinage.
