Spectators Reproved

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) ATLANTA, Feb. 2.

Lieutenant-Governor Arland Byrd interrupted a debate in the Georgia Senate yesterday to order the arrest of a group of white and negro spectators seated together in the gallery. He chastised the group for “not observing this body’s rules.” which require segregated seating in the visitors’ section.

The group left the gallery before the arrival of State troopers, and joined about 100 demonstrators marching with anti-segregation signs in front of the Capitol.

“Self-examination, if it is thorough enough, is nearly always the first step toward change.”—Thomas Mann.
