Art Exhibition

An exhibition of 36 paintings in oils and water colours by Mr W. H. F. Coates, of Matapouri, in the Whangarei art gallery room, will be opened on February 7—two days after Mr Coates celebrates his 90th birthday. The exhibition, sponsored by the Northland Society of Arts, will be open for a month, and will be visited by the painter himself. Mr Coates will show paintings done through the years from the time he was 12 years old to two landscapes painted at Matapouri since Christmas and not yet mounted.—(P.A.)
