String Players Hard To Find
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, January 29. There was a shortage of string players throughout the world, the conductor of the New Zealand National Orchestra, Mr John Hopkins, said today. Mr Hopkins is in Sydney to conduct the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at the Australian Broadcasting Commission's summer festival from February 1 to 10, He said the New Zealand Government was sponsoring a scheme to train young people so they could join the National Orchestra at a fairly early age.
