TALKS ON TRADE

Australia And New Zealand (N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 29. The Australian Minister of Trade (Mr McEwen) i* expected to visit New Zealand next month for annual trade talks with the Government Mr McEwen is leader of the Country Party and DeputyPrime Minister. He came here at the end of 1960 for trade talk* with the former Labour Government. At these talk* it was decided that the two Trade Minister* would meet annually. The New Zealand Minister of Overseas Trade (Mr Marshall) flew to Canberra last year for talk* with the Australian Government. New Zealand’s new tariff, which will come into force on April 1, is likely to be high on the list of topics discussed by Mr McEwen and Mr Marshall.

They are also expected to discuss Common Market negotiations and suggestions of closer trade ties between Australia and New Zealand and countries of South-east Asia and the Pacific.
