Grelle, had successful race* during the week-end preparatory to meeting P. Q. Snell, of New Zealand, over a mile on February 10 at the Los Angeles Indoor Games. Both men competed at an Oregon indoor track meeting Beatty won the 1000 yard race in 2min 9.9 sec—two seconds over the world indoor record, the Associated Press said. Grelle won the mile In 4min 10.2 sec from D. Burleson, who was seen in New Zealand last year. The time was due to slow early laps. The former Hungarian champion, L. Tabor!, will be in the field at Los Angele*. All Hands Safe.—The United States Navy’s highspeed Cook had arrived on the scene of the broken and sinking Panamanian tanker Stanvac Sumatra and reported all hands safe, United Press International said in a dispatch from Manila.—New York, January 28.
