Use Of Hoses To Be Restricted
Falling levels in the twc reservoirs on the Cashmer-i Hills and the wells at the foot of the hills had caused the Heathcote County Couoci 1 to bring in water restrictions in the Cashmere riding, 'aid the chairman of the council 'Mr R A Young) last evening
Residents in the riding would. from today. be allowed to hose their gardens only between 6 p.m. and d pm
Mr Young said the council had been reluctant to enforce restrictions on the use of water but the heavy demand and the inadequacy of the supply left the council no choice
He said the Cashmere rid ng was tn a different situa tion from most other areas m Christchurch. where water, was plentiful.
