Tour Plans For 1962 Season

Four overseas groups and two New Zealand ensembles will tour the country for the Federation of Chamber Music Societies this year. In June and July the famous violinist. Rugciero Ricci, will tour with the New Zealand pianist. Janetta McStay. and two famous string auartets will also be heard. They are the Hungarian Quartet and the Smetana Quartet, which was here in 1957. A less well known group but one that is highly regarded in America, the California Chamber Players— Eudice Shaoiro (violin), Victor Gottlieb (’cello). Mitchell Lurie (clarinet), and Leonie Lurie (panio)—will be the remaining overseas ensemble. The two New Zealand combinations will be the New Zealand Chamber Orchestra —a small group from the National Orchestra conducted by John Hopkins—and a group comprising Ruth Pearl (violin). Rosemary Roeatsy (soprano). Ma’-garet Neilsen fipiano), and Frederick Page (piano).
