Auckland Buys N.Z. Paintings
The Auckland art gallery has bought five works for its New Zealand collection They are: “Lake Taupo from Mission Station,” a watercolour by the Rev. J. Kinder (£35). An engraving by George Baxter of the Rev. J. Waterhouse superintending the landing of the missionaries at Taranaki (£25). “Lake Kaniere,” an oil by Charles Blomfield (£2O). “The Wounded Chief Honghi and his Family,” a colour lithograph by Augustus Earle (£l2 10s). “Herald, or Peacemaker” and “Awow,” a sheet of two colour lithograph portraits by Augustus Earle (£l2 10s).
