Hydrofoils In Use (N Z P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) MOSCOW. January 19 New types of hydrofoil motorships—a type of craft which rises on skate-like fins to skim the surface of the sea—will start experimental sea cruises in the first quarter of ’his year, the Sovie' news agency Tass said today One of these craft, called Strela (“Arrow”). which can carry 92 passengers, achieved a speed of 50 miles an hour on trial in a full gale with very rough seas She will now’ ply experimentally between health resorts on the Black Sea. Tass said. She will be toined in this service by 'he hydrofoil Kometa (“Comet”), built to carry between 120 and 150 passengers Hitherto. Soviet hydrofoils have ooerated only on inland waterways Tass «aid that a 300-pa«en-ger hydrofoil called Vikhr (“Whirlwind”) will be tested later.
