THUNDERSTORM ON COAST
Little Damage Reported (From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH. Jan 22. A thunder-storm which passed over the West Coast late on Sunday afternoon and continued during the night did not do much damage It was accompanied by very heavy rain and high winds For the 24 hours ended at. 9 a.m. today the rainfall recorded at the Karoro climatological station, less than two miles south of Greymouth was 315 inches. The fall in the Otira area was also heavy Apart from the temporary interruption of a threechannel toll circuit carrier to Christchurch, between Greymouth and Otira, the Post Office reported that there bad been no real damage. Minor flooding occurred in Greymouth during the height of the storm, but the water had disappeared from the low-lying areas yesterday morning. Apart from a few showers, today was bright, sunny and warm in Greymouth.
