CREW WALKS OFF SHIP

Six Charged In Auckland <ZV 2 Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 22. Because of some complication with the bosun of the Wellington Star at Opua last night, 13 members of the crew walked off the ship, the Magistrate’s Court at Auckland was told today Six of them were arrested in Auckland this morning and appeared before Mr M. C. Astley, S.M., on a charge of being absent without leave from their ship. Mr P, Morice for the shipping company said that the other seven members of the crew had been arrested in Whangarei.

Difficulties had been caused by them leaving the ship and there were only two deckhands left. The ship was due to sail for Lyttelton and had done so with the help of officers.

The Magistrate convicted the men and ordered them to be deported and placed on board their ship at Lyttelton.
