TRUCKS FOR CHINA
Sale By U.K. Company LONDON, January 19. The Rootes motor group of Britain has received orders worth nearly £400,000 from China. Czechoslovakia and Poland. The Chinese orders are for 100 three-ton and 30 flve-ton Commer petrol - engined trucks. These have been placed by the China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation. Confirmation of the order came soon after the shipment of 500 Hillman cars to Czechoslovakia. This is the third year in succession that Motokov, the Czech State organisation responsible for the import of motor vehicles, has ordered 500 Hillmans.
The order, which also provides for replacement parts, absorbs the bulk of the current car quota allocated under the British-Czech trade agreement Motokov placed its first orders for Hillman, which are for sale to private customers, in 1959.
Orders for Humber Super Snipes have also been received from Poland and an initial consignment of 15 'cars has been shipped.
