KINDERGARTEN TEACHERS

Summer School At Lincoln Kindergarten teachers from all over New Zealand have arrived at Lincoln College to attend the third New Zealand Free Kindergarten Teachers’ Association summer school, which will open this evening. Lectures during the sevenday course will be given by Dr. W. JJ. Barney, Messrs J. Panckhurst and G. Nuttai on the theme “guidance of children at play” and will include the philosophy of preschool education, child development, mental healtn and the teacher, handicapped children in the community the guidance of the gifted child and the “near fives,” and guided activity and the role of the teacher. Group and panel discussions will play a prominent part in the programme while general discussions will give the opportunity for a wider exchange of views and new ideas. The annual meeting of the Kindergarten Teachers’ Association will be held in conjunction with the course, which will finish on January 25.
