London Wool Prices Ease
(N.ZJ*A.-Reuter—Copyright) LamOtJ, Jan. 17. Competition was keen and general at the opening of the first wool sale of 1962 in London today but it is evident that the lower basis has been established since the close of the NovemberDecember sales and prices for most cross-bred wools were easier. Greasy cross-breds generally were 5 per cent, lower, scoured cross-breds fleece wools were 2j per cent, lower, but skirtings did not ease to the same extent and were only par to 2j per cent, down. Slipes were strong on the market at fully firm prices.
Olympic.—Olympic Consolidated Industries, Ltd., manufacturers of tyres, cables, and allied products, had a higher profit in the half year to December 31 than in the corresponding period of the previous year. Interim ordinary dividend will be maintained at 4J per cent., which equals 2.7 d a Ss share. The dividend is payable on February 28.—N.Z.P.A.
