Maori Carvings For Hawaii

IN.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, January 17. A Polynesian village on a site of approximately 15 acres will be established in Hawaii, Mr Wendel B. Mendelhall, head of the world building programme of the Church of the Latter Day Saints, said today. This village would be representative of New Zealand, Samoa, Hawaii, Tahiti, Tonga and Fiji.

Mr Mendelhall said the move by the church was purely for the purpose of recognising the Polynesian people and presenting their culture to the many tourists visiting Hawaii. Maori carvings and weaving were being prepared for the Maori building to be included in the village.
