SURVEY SHIP REFITTED
Bathrooms And Bunks Added (N.Z. Press AnocMtten) ) AUCKLAND, Jan, 16. The naval survey ship. HJM N.ZS. Lachlan, will bs a bit more like home for her crew when she puts to sea about January >O. The ship has just completed a refit taking nine months at Devonport naval base. This has included the installation of bunks for the men. instead of hammocks, a cafe messing aystern and more up-to-date bathrooms with stainless steel basins and a modern plastic finish On Thursday, the Lachlan will undergo sea triak in the Hauinki Gulf. She is expected to leave Auckland at the und of the month to survey the Whangarei area. The frigate Rotoiti sailed from Auckland on Mondav to resume picket duties between New Zealand and the Antarctic. Thia will be her second tour of duty In these waters acting as a weather station and emergency search and rescue ship for United Slates aircraft firing to and from McMurdo Sound. She is expected to return to Auckland on March g H M.S. Cook, the British survey frigate which was visiting Auckland foe a refit and to give her crew leave i has sailed for Vila la ths New Hebrides.
