MEMORIAL AV. WARNING
Surface Slippery After Rain After an accident and a near-accident in Memorial avenue on Saturday, the Transport Department broadcast a warning that the road was treacherous. A car slewed around and hit a pole after the driver braked, and a heavy vehicle skidded sideways when it was waved down. “Any smooth bitumen surface can become treacherous when rain comes after a dry spell,” said the district officer of the department (Mr D. L. Hogan) yesterday. He said the road was made slippery by a combination of the oily fllm left by traffic, the already smooth surface, and the rain.
