WORLD COUNCIL OF CHURCHES

Report On Delhi Assembly

A report on the third assembly of the World Council of Churches (the Rev. been written by the Rev. A. A. Brash, of Christchurch, general secretary of the National Council of Churches. The report. “Delhi. 1961.” was published on January 11. Commenting yesterday on the report, the executive secretary of the Christchurch branch of the National Council of Churches (the Rev. C. R. Sprackett) said it gave a bird’s-eye view of the Delhi assembly. "It tells of the need of India —of Asia, as seen in the lanes of old Delhi—and of the central theme of the assembly, Jesus Christ the Light of the World. It tells of Christian service within the church and in daily work, and the reconciliation and reunion of the churches," Mr Sprackett said. “The report contains the assembly’s appeal to all governments and peoples of the world. It is a strong, realistic statement. “Mr Brash has made another contribution to our churches and national life in providing a helpful booklet which gives the gist of the Delhi assembly in plain language,” said Mr Sprackett.
