COMMERCIAL N.Z. Stock Exchanges Open Year Quietly
Trading was quiet on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday, when business opened for the year. New Zealand shares were steady, while overseas shares were firmer. N.Z. Forest Products, at 35s 9d, and Woolworths N.Z. at 16s 6d, both sold 3d higher than closing rates for 1961. Pacific Forests sold 6d up at 12s 9d. Waltons, which have been advancing steadily in Australia since trading for the year started there, opened Is higher than in last sales in 1961. Bank of New South Wales rose 15s, Coles 9d, Woolworths 4d, and B.H.P. 3d.
