Plumbing Bursary Awarded
A plumbing apprenticeship bursary has been awarded by the Bank of New South Wales to Mr A. J. Thomson, of Otautau, Southland. The bursary is awarded in assocation with the New Zealand Society of Master Plumbera, to enable a plumbing apprentice, who has qualified for the Plumbers' Registration Certificate, to travel to Australia to gain technical knowledge and experience in sanitation, water reticulation. and general plumbing on major construction works. Mr Thomson will fly to Australia on January 18 and will spend approximately a year in employment arranged through the Federated Master Plumbers of Australia.
Mr Thomson began his apprenticeship in 1966 and won the prize for the most improved plumber at his technical college that year. He obtained his trades certificate in 1960.
