Horses Of Olympic Class In Course At Waimate

Some of the horses which have been assembled at Waimate for a course conducted by the well-known Hungarian horseman, Mr C. Bolgar, are said to be of Olympic class. About 30 horses and riders are taking part In the course, which is being held at Knottingly Park. It is the only course to be held between Dunedin and Christchurch, and horses are here from both centresh.

The course was planned by a local committee, in which Mr and Mrs L. Meyer are prominent members. At their request, Mr Bolgar came to Waimate last year, and the course has gained in popularity. It will be repeated next January The present course was commenced on Friday. It includes dressage and show jumping, and Mr Bolgar trains both horses and riders. A large attendance of spectators on Sunday watched the horses and their riders

at work. A barbecue was held in the evening. The course is regarded as a preparation for the “Horse of the Year” competition at Christchurch, and on Wednesday, the final day, top horse.' from Dunedin and Christchurch will take part. The visiting riders have expressed themselves enthusiastically about Knottingly Park. “Absolutely perfect,” "Just ideal,” are the terms used.
