EXTRADITION SOUGHT
Trujillo In France (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SANTO DOMINGO (Dominican Republic), January 10. The Dominican Republic will ask France for the extradition of General Rafael Trujillo, jun., sor of the late Dominican dictator, on charges of murder, the semiofficial newspaper “La Nacion” reported. General Trujillo, former chief of the Dominican armed forces, fled to Paris two months ago, United Press International said. “La Nacion” quoted the Attorney General (Mr Antonio Garcia Vasquez) as saying he would also seek to have three other former top military chiefs returned to Santo Domingo. All four were wanted to stand trial in connexion with the alleged murder of six political prisoners last November shortly before Rafael Trujillo jun. and other members of the Trujillo family and their close associates fled from the country, U.P.I. said. The story could not be immediately confirmed. Meanwhile plans for an emergency public works programme to ease widespread unemployment were announced by a member of the ruling Council of State (Mr Nicolas Pichardos) in a nation-wide radio broadcast.
