TIMARU WOOL CHEQUE
£1,788,603 For Third Sale
(N.Z. Press Association) TIMARU, Jan. 9. The third Timaru wool sale of the 1961-62 season on December 18 realised £1.788.603 for the 32.439 bales sold from a total of 33.303 bales offered, according to figures released today by the South Canterbury Woolbrokers’ Association. The cheque from the corresponding sale last season totalled £1,556.125 for 27,980 bales. The total offering then was 29.141 bales. Comparative statistics, with the 1960 figures shown in parentheses, are as follows; Total net weight sold, 10.689.8561 b (9,213.8641 b Average price per bale, £55 2s 9d (£55 12s 4d). Average price per lb 40.16 d (40.454). A total of 163 bales of an offering of 185 bales of scoured wool was sold. In 1960 53 of the 163 bales were sold. Other statistics for scoured wool were: Total proceeds, £7536 3s 5d (£1558 5s 2d). Net weight sold, 43.9261 b (13.1101 b Average price per bale, £46 4s 8d (£29 8s).
