RESCUED ON SURF SKI

Swimmer At Piha

AUCKLAND, January 8.

A swimmer was rescued off Piha beach today after being swept 500 yards out to sea and spending 75 minutes in the water. He is Mr D. Maxwell, of Parnell. Auckland. A member of the North Piha Surf Life-saving club took out a full 400-yard reel line, but could not reach Mr Maxwell.

The assistant club captain (Mr P. Way) went to Mr Maxwell’s aid and supported him until Mr E. D. Wright, the club instructsr, arrived with a surf ski.
