Archery HINCHO LEADS FIELD
National Archery Championships (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. January 8 J. Hincho. of Mangere. is leading the field for the open title at the 1962 national archery championships, being played at Wellington. Hincho won the Robin Hood award for the first male competitor to shoot the first bull’s-eye. Miss D. Kuhne. Auckland, won the Maid Marian award for a similar feat by a woman. Last year’s national champion. J. Brurinlng, Westport, led the men’s short-range championship field, but his form declined during the open shoot. The second round of the open championship will be staged tomorrow afternoon and the short range championships will end before lunch tomorrow. Other competitions will be held until Friday. Club's Win
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. January 8 The Gisborne Archery Club has had its sixth win in the N. S. Rvan Memorial Shield competition. The result* of the annual event, held last month, were announced during the 1962 national archery championships. which began today in Wellington. The competition has been held since 1949. Mr Ryan is regarded as the “father" of archery in New Zealand and was the New Zealand Archery Association's first president.
